Anne Fontaine: the history of the brand

“Anne Fontaine” is a famous fashion label, founded in 1993 by the designer Anne Fontaine.

Anne was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro. She was greatly interested in ecology therefore she studied different aspects of environmental protection. For this reason, Anne went on a tour and lived for some months in the Amazonia with a tribe of natives. Aboriginal customs influenced her much and affected the formation of her brand with the same name. If you look at her fashion collections, you will see her big love of natural materials.

French blood also runs through Anne’s veins so she went to France to study the ecology. There she was busy with protection of whales for some time. In France Anne met her second half who brought her to the world of high fashion.

Anne’s first project, which was released under her own label, was a collection of white shirts. Later her collections became more diverse and you will find items of all sorts in them: knitwear, accessories, handbags and outerwear. Later Anna decided to start work over perfumes.

In 1994, Anne opened her first store in Paris. Though she conquered Paris, it took about three years for her to reach the United States for her brand. At present, “Anne Fontaine” products are sold in 70 shops of the world. The flagship stores can be found in Paris, Tokyo and New York.

In 2000, Anne Fontaine opened her boutique on Madison Avenue in New York.

11 May 2005, Anne opened her first store in Shanghai, China.

Shirts are still one of the signature creations of Anne Fontaine therefore they are still manufactured by her brand. Fontaine is actively experimenting with different types of cut, tries different materials and regularly introduces something new. Creative genius of Anne Fontaine is noticed even in the choice of buttons and small details. For instance, she uses mother of pearl, small decorative straps, flowers made of fabric, zippers and so on.

The label “Anne Fontaine” produces about 300 different products in a year and though they are diverse, one thing unites all: the items feature incredible femininity, elegance and highest quality. Elegant and simple clothing of Anne Fontaine is loved much by her followers.
