African Business Style by Princess Fifi

PrincessFifiI recently came across an extraordinary woman. A couple months ago CNN International did a special about leading women in Africa. I was impressed with a story about Nigerian architect, fashion mogul, businesswoman and philanthropist Princess Fifi Ekanem Ejindu who is the great granddaughter of King James Ekpo Bassey of Cobham Town. Princess Fifi goes by the title of Her Highness Obonganwan King James. She is regarded as one of the richest persons in Africa and no wonder she has touched many lives in Nigeria and worldwide through her charity work, activities and business projects.
This amazing woman has a long list of achievements including successful business projects in real estate, construction and energy. She is the first black African woman to graduate from a School of Architecture and today she is one of the most highly regarded architects in the country. Princess Fifi is a chairperson of Starcrest Group of Companies; she is deeply involved with various charity projects, arts and fashion.

PrincessFifi3One of her major achievement is the African Arts and Fashion Initiative that was officially launched in 2013 in London. Princess Fifi’s ambition is to showcase Africa’s history, rich culture, heritage and talent around the world. She hopes that this initiative will empower youth in Africa and boost the local economy. The Initiative plans to organize exhibits, conferences, shows to promote African Fashion, Arts, Style, Literature and Traditions in general. Speaking at Launch of her Initiatiove in Lodnon at The Dorchester hotel on August 4th 2013, Princess Fifi said: “I believe Africa Fashion Week London is a great platform for African talent and a great opportunity for Africa to showcase the talent that we possess. The era of the hungry African child is long over and it is now time for our culture to be recognized globally.” Late she added “The African Arts and Fashion Initiative will continue to drive an African Arts and Style Renaissance by promoting and showcasing Africa’s rich cultural heritage globally. However, the emphasis will continue to be on motivating, sensitising and most importantly, empowering the upcoming array of talented young people in Africa
