The USA Supreme Court makes it official. Same-sex marriage is legal nationwide
You could see a rainbow flag on the White House in Washington DC. The U.S. officially became 21st country to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide. CNN reported on June 26th 2015: “In a landmark opinion, a divided Supreme Court on Friday ruled that same-sex couples can marry nationwide, establishing a new civil right and handing gay rights advocates a historic victory. In the 5-4 ruling, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the majority with the four liberal justices. Each of the four conservative justices wrote their own dissent.
Nearly 46 years to the day after a riot at New York’s Stonewall Inn ushered in the modern gay rights movement, the decision could settle one of the major civil rights fights of this era. The language of Kennedy’s opinion spoke eloquently of the most fundamental values of family, love and liberty”.
Married same-sex couples will now enjoy the same legal rights and benefits as married heterosexual couples nationwide and will be recognized on official documents such as birth and death certificates. The US President Barak Obama supporte dthe desicion and eauqil rights for gay and gay marriges. Speaking at the White House on June 26th, Obama said “Americans should be very proud,” because small acts of courage “slowly made an entire country realize that love is love.”
There is no escape from heat wave in Pakistan and India. Death toll is over 1000 people in Karachi.
New York Times reported on June 14th 2015 that the death toll reached 1,000 in Karachi as residents grappled with a devastating heat wave that has crippled life and overwhelmed the health care system. Searing temperatures, which have been as high as 113 degrees Fahrenheit, or 45 degrees Celsius, fell below 100 on Thursday, but a sense of panic and crisis persisted in the city, the country’s financial and commercial capital as well as the capital of Sindh Province.
There has been a sharp increase in the sale of air-conditioners and room coolers, local traders said. Morgues have run short of space, and hospitals are filled to capacity as patients scramble to be treated for dehydration and heatstroke. The heat wave has sent more than 14,000 people into government and private hospitals here. For sellers of home appliances, there has been a run on products for cooling and controlling humidity. Sales in Karachi are up by about 25 percent, and prices have climbed. “We did not see such sale of air-conditioners, room coolers and fans in the past,” said Rizwan Irfan, a leader of Karachi’s electronic traders’ association. “The stocks of these appliances are running out.”
Angered by the continuing power cuts, residents in several parts of the city have organized protests and blocked traffic. Even lawmakers from the province’s governing party staged a protest outside the Sindh Assembly’s building Wednesday.
Dawn, the country’s leading English-language daily, however, published an editorial on Thursday criticizing the provincial government’s effort to blame the power supply for the high number of deaths, calling that absurd.“The Sindh government is focusing excessively on electricity as the cause behind the deaths,” the newspaper said, “and not enough on measures that more directly deal with the cause of the deaths.” The opposition politician Imran Khan also visited Jinnah on Thursday. During the visit, he blamed the provincial and federal governments for failing to provide adequate health care facilities for those affected

Eres – elegant swimwear for business ladies
What to wear when you are invited to a corporate gathering off sight or a business conference at the resort? I was once in this situation when we had a business event for top profile clients in Singapore and we were entertaining them on a boat. I knew I had to wear some kind of beachwear and a swimming suit because swimming was on the agenda.
I prepared by searching top swimming wear brands and found that only very few provide appropriate attire for business events like mine. As you probably guess, its best to wear one piece bathing suit rather then a two piece bikini. At the end of the day, its about business and you don’t want to attract unnecessary attention, it would not be good for your reputation as a business lady. Swimwear can not be too revealing, its better if its a solid colour and it’s best if you feel confident in it.
So, try to find a piece that will fit you great, that still has a bit of trendy twist to it and its a fashion statement. Below are a couple of ideas how the business swimwear could look like for a lady.
I am a huge fan of Eres brand that makes elegant one piece swimwear. Its probably the only brand that has a sophisticated appeal and feminine silhouette at the same time. According to New York Times: “The French company Eres isn’t interested in runway shows or fashion weeks, and it has always shunned the annual Miami event, deciding to keep its beachwear firmly under wraps. Instead, major global buyers and journalists make a by-invitation-only pilgrimage twice a year to the company’s headquarters in Paris to discover in which direction the swimwear fashion current is flowing”.
Valérie Delafosse, the company’s head designer said in one of the interviews that she doesnt care about trends, she only follows her intuition. Eres was founded in 1968 by Irène Leroux. This is what fashion critic Hilary Alexander said about the brand and designs: “Eres makes the best little black swimsuits in the world. They are the Coco Chanel of swimsuits.” I tend to agree! Here are my Top 5 favourites:
Young woman post a selfie with skin cancer blisters to warn others about the consequences of tanning addiction
A young, beautiful woman from small-town in Kentucky never thought she would become famous for posting a selfie on social media. Tawny Willoughby frequently used a tanning bed (4-5 times a week) while she was growing up. Today she has a dangerous type of skin cancer that could lead to melanoma.
CNN reports: “I had my own personal tanning bed in my home, and so did a lot of my friends growing up. … Everyone tanned,” Willoughby said. “I didn’t really even think about the future or skin cancer at the time.” After one of her classmates in nursing school was diagnosed with melanoma, Willoughby made her first dermatology appointment at age 21. Sure enough, she had skin cancer.
Now 27, Willoughby says she has had basal cell carcinoma five times and squamous cell carcinoma once. She goes to the dermatologist every six to 12 months and usually has a cancerous piece of skin removed at each checkup.
In CNN reports you can find out why excessive tanning could cause skin cancer. One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Exposure to tanning beds increases the risk of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, said the academy, which reports that more than 419,000 cases of skin cancer in the U.S. each year are linked to indoor tanning.
Melanoma is the most common form of cancer for adults 25-29 years old and the second-most common form of cancer for adolescents and young adults 15-29 years old, according to the academy. Warning signs include changes in size, shape or color of a mole or other lesion, the appearance of a new growth on the skin or a sore that doesn’t heal. Risk factors for all types of skin cancer include skin that burns easily, blond or red hair and a history of excessive sun exposure, including sunburns and tanning-bed use .
Tawny Willoughby became a spokeswoman against tanning bed after she posted a selfie n Facebook. She wrote: “If anyone needs a little motivation to not lay in the tanning bed and sun here ya go! This is what skin cancer treatment can look like. Wear sunscreen and get a spray tan. You only get one skin and you should take care of it.”
Willoughby, a registered nurse who now lives in northern Alabama, said she never expected the Facebook picture of her damaged face to go viral.
But she’s excited to think her story might save someone’s life. SO, read the full article here: http://edition.cnn.com/2015/05/12/living/skin-cancer-selfie-feat/index.html
Chinese Fashion Star
If you’ve seen Rhianna’s dress at the Met Gala this year (2015), then you probbaly wondered who was the designer. According to Daily Mail, Guo Pei is a fashion phenomenon in China. He spent two years hand making Rhianna’s dress and today he is considered teh next big thing in a global fashion industry.
Daily Mail reports: From pizzas to omelettes, Rihanna’s canary yellow gown was the topic of many fan-created memes that quickly went viral on Twitter and Instagram following her appearance at the Met Gala. Top 5 Watches for Business Lady
Classic timepiece is known for being a status symbol for both genders since the watches were invented. Surprisingly, a watch could tell a lot about person’s education, social position, and wealth. People would also look at your watch to determine your taste and your business sense. For example, in the US, wearing luxury and eye catching watch in the business meeting could be interpreted that you are obnoxious, showing off and careless about spending money. However, its very much the opposite in Europe and especially in Asia. In Switzerland, you aren’t taken seriously in business if you don’t have a good mechanical watch. In some Asian countries, you better flash your sparkling diamonds to prove that you are a serious business person.
If you are looking for a timepiece that could impress your colleagues, investors and clients all over the world, than you better look for a watch that has a good balance between being business friendly and sending a signal of success. The best brands that offer classic elegance and conservative chicness are Patek Philippe, Cartier, Bulgari, Panerai, Tag Heuer, Piaget and Chopard. Below are a couple tips on what you should pay attention while shopping for a business watch.
- Mechanical and quartz watches are most used timepieces for women. The quartz watch is more practical, and reliable. It usually costs a lot less and requires less maintenance.
- Choosing the right style and a case shape of a watch for women is very important. Classic shapes include round, oval and rectangular. If you go for a bolder shape like a large square, sporty or fashion trendy shapes, it will not be suitable for business setting.
- Its also important to choose the right material of your watch. Stainless steel and ceramic are widely used by watch-makers. If stainless steel is used to create a more masculine look in women’s timepieces, ceramic is used in fashion designs. However, gold has always been highly on demand. Gold comes in various shades such as classical yellow gold, rose, pink or platinum. Gold watches will be a lot more expansive.
- The right bracelets will determine a classy and formal look. For a business occasion its much better to choose a leather strap bracelet rather then go for a solid gold.
- Diamonds will never go out of fashion, so having a few sparkles in your watch is aloud in a business look. Your watch is an exquisite accessory, but its also who you are, so don’t over do it with diamonds, gold and funky designs.

Quick Snapshot of Cannes Film Festival 2015 – the Palme d’Or & Best Dressed Celebs
The most glamorous film festival is over. Its time to look at winners and celebrate the success. CNN reports: “French filmmaker Jacques Audiard took home the Palme d’Or for “Dheepan,” a crime drama about a Sri Lankan Tamil warrior who flees to France. Silver the Grand Prix award went to Laszlo Nemes’ “Son of Saul.” And the award considered the third prize of the film festival, the Prix Du Jury, was won by Yorgos Lanthimos for “The Lobster.”
Accoridng to The Guirdian “Jacques Audiard has made his name, in films such as A Prophet, Rust & Bone and The Beat That My Heart Skipped, for a kind of ecstatic violence of the soul. Dheepan, his new film about a former Tamil Tiger fighter looking for a new life in France, certainly has some of the director’s trademark ferocity, especially in its final minutes”. This emotional drama/thriller is about new chances, social issues in France for the roughest neighbourhoods with gangs and immigrants, an dits about adapting, and fitting in. A former soldier escaped civil war in Sri Lanka, together with a young woman and a little girl they pretend to be a family, so they can immigrate to France. They try to start a new life together in tough conditions.
It would not be the most glamorous event if celebs would not put on their chic frocks. Lets take a look through various events during the festival and see who wear what and who got to be my Top 5 best dressed list.
